Give A Life Foundation
(Stephen Jarvis, Founder, Tel. No. 8994133 is located in Makati)

The Give A Life Foundation is supporting of 11 hospitals by providing them a life saving medicines and medical equipment. Give a Life also renovates the children’s ward in the hospitals. Like the recent projects of Springboard Foundation that sponsored by DSM Nutritional Products, Nickelodeon and Bosch , they renovated the children’s ward and bought brand-new stainless steel baby cribs for then Ospital ng Maynila. The children’s cancer ward in the Ospital ng Maynila was renovated and what a difference it makes to the little patients there who have suffered so much. Together with the free medicines that they receive from Give a Life they now have hope to win the battle against cancer.

Give a Life’s most immediate needs are for medicines and equipment. The Nursery roof of the Ospital ng Maynila should be replaced as soon as possible.

Our projects: December 15, 2003 – 40,000 Pesos (donated by the Canadian club) were given to buy 4 hydro cephalous, which saved 4 lives this Christmas.
December 15, 2003 – 180,000 Pesos (100,000 donated by Nickelodeon and 80,000 from Springboard fundraising) for the renovation of one children’s ward at the Ospital ng Maynila.
January 9, 2004 – 200,000 Pesos (donated by DSM Nutritional Products, formerly Roche Vitamins Philippines) were donated for the renovation of one children’s ward at the Ospital ng Maynila.
January 9, 2004 – 180,000 Pesos (donated by Bosch Philippines) were donated for the renovation of one children’s ward at the Ospital ng Maynila.
March 24, 2004 – 350,000 Pesos were given for the Children’s Cancer Ward and medicines in Ospital ng Maynila.
April 26, 2004 – 200,000 Pesos were given for the repair of 4 incubators and purchased baby bassinets and medicines.
June 6, 2004 – 300,000 Pesos were given for the purchased of baby bassinets and medicines.
November 5, 2004 – 100,000 Pesos given for the purchased of medicines.
November 30, 2004 – 48,840 Pesos In Kind Donation: 10 cases of Premium Growing-up Milk from Nestle Philippines.
December 20, 2004 – 200,000 Pesos (donated by DSM Nutritional Products) were donated for the renovation of one pediatric cancer ward at the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center.
January 19, 2005 – 748,484 Pesos were donated for the Renovation of Cancer ward, emergency room for pedia, purchased of bili lights,medicine, etc.
January 28, 2005 – 270 Pesos In Kind Donation of urine catheter.
February 28, 2005 – 151,972 Pesos were donated for the purchased of baby bassinets and medicines.

Hope Worldwide Foundation

Hope Worldwide cares for the urban poor children in Baseco and Payatas. They have daycare centers, livelihood programs and drop in centers in both places and are currently building a refuge center for abused children in Laguna. This center will start operating in December this year. They have family development programs and we just started a program for essential nutrition for the urban poor children in their area.

Angelo King foundation make a commitment of 5 Million for the building of the Muliti Purpose Hall in Nayong Pag-asa a center for abused children.

Kinderhilfe Philippinen

Kinderhilfe is a children’s village that takes care of more then 100 abandoned and abused children. They are involved in many community development projects such as improving hospital facilities and schools, building of daycare centers, water-projects and natural disaster relief.

A total of 1,028,884 Pesos in cash and in kind were given to Kinderhilfe Philippinen

Our Project: We financed 3 daycare centers and facilitated a donation from the German Embassy for a new community hospital roof and we purchased 10 sewing machines.

VA (Entrepreneur Volunteer Assistance) Foundation
(Jennifer Wallum, President, Tel. No. 8160132)

The EVA Foundation has helped the AETA community for more then 10 Years. It started after Mount Pinatubo erupted and left the Aeta people homeless and displaced. Jenny Wallum has worked tirelessly to implement education- and livelihood plans. She has built many schools and her experience in that area is admirable. The 3-room school that is being build now with funding from Springboard is situated in an area where the local community has been very supportive and hardworking with previous projects. These communities are far away from any other school and this school is their only mean to get an education, without which they would become dependable on other people. Their cultural history is sensitively incorporated into their education and thus they receive an important building block to a happy future.

Our project: November 15, 2002 – 36,360 Pesos were paid for the honorarium of a midwife and hilot for the Haduan Health Care Center for one year
June 8, 2004 – 380,000 Pesos For a 3-room school with complete furniture, equipment and school supplies and a one-year honorarium for a school-activator.
March 17, 2005 – 15,300 Pesos In Kind Donation of jeepney toys for the Aetas at Orion, Bataan
March 17, 2005 – clothes, candles and pillows, pillowcase and sheets for the Aetas at Orion, Bataan estimated at 9,000 Pesos.

SACOP (Social Action Center of Pampanga)

SACOP is a center that has a good track record and gives micro loans for mothers to help them with their enterprises. It has been highly recommended by Jenny Wallum of the EVA Foundation who has helped them to set up this micro loan program for woman. This will make it possible for these women to create an income so that they can care for their children. Most women are very sincere in paying back this loan on time. The total fund released will be returned to the Springboard Foundation after one year and we can decide if we want to grant that fund again. If we see it working well we will naturally give the money to SACOP for another year to help more women to establish a livelihood.

Sun and Moon Home for Children

Is the foundation that cares for severely malnourished, abandoned, surrendered or neglected children, Capacity up to 10 children; goal is to rehabilitate the children and either return them to their families or to place them into loving adoptive homes. The home is in Paranaque and very well run.

Tuloy Foundation

The Tuloy Foundation looks after more than 500 street-children in Alabang. 160 of these children live on the compound. They all attend school there and receive vocational training. Tuloy provides a home, education and the hope of a good and decent life to hundreds more who have chosen the streets as their desperate recourse.

I.D.E.A. Foundation
International Deaf Education Association
(Dennis Drake,Executive Director, Tel. No. (038) 4113683 ext. 103) I.D.E.A. is in Tagbilaran, Bohol. Idea is helping the deaf and blind people to have home and educate them. They teach them sign language or Braille and provide jobs so that they can earn their own living. They build houses that can be occupied by former students who are now grown-up and might even work there. For this a monthly payment is made, this money is kept and another house is build as soon as enough funds are gathered. One can also sponsor a child, for 1,800 Pesos a month.

Shiphrah Bahay Paanakan/The Little Children’s Home

Shiphrah Bahay Paanakan helps marginalized woman and their families. They provide antenatal care, maternity and post-partum and well-woman check-ups. They also conduct a rural outreach to marginalized women on Talim Island. Shiphrah also includes an orphanage, The Little Children’s Home that takes care of up to 25 children.

This foundation is well known to one of our Springboard Directors who lived in Cebu and was amazed by the commitment of the people who founded this foundation. The children are very well looked after and live in a beautiful and clean surrounding with fresh air.

June 6, 2004 – 60,000 Pesos for building a basketball court, this project is on hold because the original budget of 60,000 was less then half of the estimate from a builder. We are working on a solution.

Angeles Bahay Bata Center

Angeles Bahay Bata Center is an Institution in Central Luzon that seeks to uplift the welfare of street children by providing for their holistic development physically, socially, emotionally, cognitively and spiritually thereby helping them become productive and responsible members of society.

Jesus Loves the Little Children Foundation, Inc.

Jesus Loves the Little Children Foundation has been actively involved for the last 5 years in issues of Children at Risk. Currently they have 30 resident children with 24 hours care and provide in house schooling within its facility. They also served 150 children from its community based outreach program. They provide the community with several humanitarian missions such as: medical, dental, educational, sponsorship, livelihood assistance, rice assistance, supplemental feeding, school supplies, clothes and emergency assistance. We have a Canadian Donor donated of about 1.8 Million for the land.

Shalom Christian Bahay Paanakan give ante- natal care, and post-natal care and women can deliver their babies there in a save environment. Shalom Birthing Home does parental craft teaching and trains midwives in practical experience.

Mabuhay Deseret Foundation

Mabuhay Deseret Foundation is the largest non-profit surgical charity in the Philippines. Every year they change the lives of over 3,000 by removing debilitating and deforming birth defects. They provide the following types of surgeries for the poor: cleft lip/ palate, burn contractures, cross-eyes, cataracts, club foot, post polio, artificial leg (below-the-knee)

Average price of one such operation to a mere cost of 2,500 Pesos.

Proposed Project: Finance cost of surgery for 4 children
Budget: 10,000 Pesos

The Urchins Foundation
(Aurore Prudent- Roiland, Tel. No. 7768536)

They care for children who are not really supervised by their parents. They teach through playing games and music. The center seems to have a good philosophy but working with them was difficult. No feedback was given for the donations and they didn’t seem to appreciate the items.
